Women In History
Susanna Wesley (1669–1742)
Susanna Wesley was a devoted Christian wife, mother, and teacher whose faith influenced generations.
She was the mother of 19 children, although only 10 survived to adulthood.
Two of her sons, John and Charles Wesley, became influential Christian leaders.
Despite financial struggles, family hardships, and the demands of motherhood, Susanna remained committed to God.
How she lived her faith
Prayer: Made time for daily prayer, even in a busy household.
Scripture: Taught her children God’s Word.
Discipleship: Spent individual time with each child.
Hospitality: Opened her home for prayer and Bible teaching.
Perseverance: Trusted God through difficulties.
Her lasting legacy
Susanna never held an official church position, yet her faithful teaching and example helped shape the Methodist movement.
