Read Matthew 9, Luke 7
Jesus draws both “sinners” and “saints” to Himself; His followers must live in the same approachable, uncompromised way.
Luke alone records the dinner where a well-known prostitute bursts into a Pharisee’s house, weeps over Jesus’ feet, and pours out a year’s wages in fragrant oil. The host, Simon the Pharisee, silently condemns both her and Jesus. Knowing his thoughts, Jesus tells a short parable about two debtors to expose that those who realize how much they’re forgiven love the most.
From this scene Pastor Gary turns to a pressing question: What made Jesus attractive to both the openly sinful and the strictly religious—and how can modern disciples emulate Him? Many believers slip toward one of two extremes: blending in with the world or hiding in a Christian bubble. The message offers five practical practices that keep us in the Christ-like middle, able to reach every kind of person without compromising truth.
- Live a consistent, uncompromised life.
- Don’t be judgmental.
- Don’t be legalistic.
- Don’t become isolated.
- Love people—really.
