Read Matthew 23, Luke 20,21

Jesus exposes religious hypocrisy and calls every believer to examine and purge the double standards hidden in our hearts, words, and actions.

In Matthew 23, during His final week before the cross, Jesus issues seven blistering “woes” against the Pharisees and scribes. Their outward piety masked inward corruption, and their hypocrisy blocked others from God’s kingdom. Pastor Gary unpacks Jesus’ rebuke, defines hypocrisy, and traces its three common expressions: toward others, toward ourselves, and toward God. Modern statistics, historical quotes, and biblical examples (including the apostle Peter) show that hypocrisy still damages the church’s witness today. The message ends with David’s prayer for “an undivided heart,” inviting us to repent and walk in integrity.
