Read Matthew 5,6,7

Jesus did not abolish the Old Testament; He fulfilled it—and only His righteousness can satisfy its enduring moral demands.

The law’s lasting purpose is to define sin, expose sin in us, and drive us to the Savior. Our righteousness must surpass that of the scribes and Pharisees, and that happens only through the “great exchange” accomplished by Jesus, who takes our sin and gives us His righteousness.

Reflection Questions

  1. What comes to mind when you think of the Old Testament—ritual, rules, or revelation? Why?
  2. Which ceremonial or dietary law example helped you see its “shadow” pointing to Christ?
  3. When has Scripture recently exposed a hidden attitude or action in your heart?
  4. How does the “great exchange” reshape the way you handle guilt or the urge to “do better”?
  5. In what practical way can you reflect God’s character this week to family, friends, or colleagues?
