You know what my heart is hungry for this morning, Lord?

I crave some beautiful time with You. Time spent with You singing songs and reading You-centered poetry. Time where my words are very few. Your living Word really is having an effect on me, slowly reawakening my love for You. All the glory and all the credit for that go to You.

My affections for You are like a sponge. I’m thankful that there’s even a sponge at all, Lord. But sponges are most effective when they’re hydrated.

So this morning I’m going to soak my dry, dusty affections in a bath of song and exquisite prose that have burst from the overflowing hearts of my brothers and sisters in Christ over the centuries.

Be honored, Lord.

My Jesus, I love thee, I know thou art mine; for thee all the follies of sin I resign; my gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love thee because thou hast first loved me and purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree; I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I’ll love thee in life, I will love thee in death, and praise thee as long as thou lendest me breath, and say when the deathdew lies cold on my brow: If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight, I’ll ever adore thee in heaven so bright; I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow: If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.
