Biblical Concepts of Principles and Purposes for the Home
Memorial Day…The Next Day
It has more meaning of the unofficial start of summer. More than a 3 day weekend, an extra day off or BBQ’s.
Spending time with family and friends are cherished memories. I always love a great get together or barbecue.
What the true meaning is…and should be shared with all generations. How America was founded on God. How some sacrificed his or her lives for our freedom.
Observing Memorial Day from the home involves moments of
remembrance and time spent with family. Learning about the origins of the holiday.
Memorial Day started out as…
1-Decoration Day…Tribute to all fallen soldiers of war.
2-After Civil War… A celebration of newly freed enslaved men, women and children.
3-In 1930 Congress passed a proclamation… Memorial Day as a day of prayer for permanent peace.
4-In 2000… a bill was signed, called
“Moments of Remembrance”
5-Many cities host parades with marching bands, floats and veterans to honor those who lost their lives.
6-Presidents request all government flags to be flown at half-staff until noon on this day.
7-One sacred tradition of Memorial Day is that the President pays tribute by placing a wreath at the
“Tomb of the Unknown Solider”
it’s for all who died fighting for their country.
With gratitude to God for protection and freedom. We have freedom to worship where and when we want.
Let’s keep “One Nation Under God” going for generations to come. Let’s keep the memories alive of our ancestors.
Blessings, Angie
