Read Numbers 33,34

Pastor Daniel reminds us that the people have been looking back and now they’re looking ahead to the Promised Land.

The promise to Abraham was given more than 400 years ago. Remember that God is faithful to fulfill His promises. Also remember that God’s faithfulness never happens in our timetable. God’s plans and purposes function on a different schedule then we do and that can be pretty disconcerting.

How often do people leave from following the Lord because God didn’t move in their timetable? We can become very impatient. Generations did not get into the Promised Land.

We see the boundaries. God chooses the place to be planted and blossomed. Often times the places that God plants us in are the same places He wants us to grow up in. Our society has a high turn over.
We see most of what happens in the Bible takes place within these boundaries.

If you break the Bible into themes, you will see God, the people, the land. What about the themes of your life? God promises the land but the people never take possession of what He has given them.

You will see in the coming books that the people have issues because of unrighteousness. At the time of David and Solomon, they probably dwelt in 75% of it. How many of us are not dwelling in the fullness of the Promised Land spiritually because we’re not being obedient to the things God has taught us.

God can’t bestow all His blessings on us if we’re unavailable or unwilling. Obedience plays a part in our experience of God’s blessings.

Salvation comes by faith, but the experience of God’s blessing comes when we respond to Jesus and live in such a way that lines up with the word of God. God wants us to surrender to Him.

When we pray to God it doesn’t change Him. It changes us. Prayers change the way we see the world. We begin to see it as God sees it.

When you do not receive His blessings, do you ask yourself, “in what way am I not honoring God?”

God doesn’t say He might give the land. They don’t get to experience all that God can bestow on them because they aren’t being obedient. What has God promised you that you have not yet received because of your disobedience? Ask God to give you the grace to live obediently. If you do, your life will change.

We see a parallel at the end of this chapter with chapter 1. Don’t miss the fact that there is a whole new set of leaders. Chapter 1 leaders die in the wilderness because of their lack of faith.

How many of us listen to the council of people with a lack of faith? They may be Christians but they don’t believe God can do miraculous things. Do you get council from people who don’t really believe in God? Are you a faithless counselor? It’s amazing how often the people of God don’t believe in God.

Make decisions based on the fact that you serve a mighty God. Don’t let your sight be the hindrance to how God wants to use you.

God uses ordinary people that believe in an extraordinary God. God wants to do something radical now. Be bold. What haven’t you done? If God can use a donkey, He can use you. Start praying. Keep trying.

The people of God need to act like the people of God. Don’t be limited by what you can see.

It doesn’t matter who you are. It matters who you believe in.
