Biblical Concepts of God’s Purpose and Principles

Excerpt from Women Of Grace

Pray for your husband.
One husband gets nervous the minute he hears that his wife has “given up” on their disagreement and is praying. When you enlist God’s help in any situation, you are leaving it in the right Person’s hands. Watch out! God may change you instead of your husband.

Speak grace words, not death words.
Be careful with your criticism, sarcasm, and hurtful words. It is better to leave things unsaid, if you can’t say it nicely. Praise him for the good decisions he makes. Bear in mind, he is ultimately accountable to God for his choices, as are we for our submission. Ask God to reveal to him areas of his life that need to be more Christlike.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Kind words are characteristic of a wise woman. Jesus spoke graciously (Luke 4:22) – we should too.

Focus on God’s love and sovereignty, not on your own troubles.
Think big picture. Back up a few steps and look at the system God put in place. Marriage roles are His design. It’s not all about you, regardless of what the world is saying.

Genesis 3:16 reads, “to the woman He said, ‘I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you will bring forth children; yet your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.’” This means that women often try to usurp the leadership of the family.

When we insist on our way and refuse to do it God’s way, our rebellion and pride are showing. We are quenching the Spirit’s leading.

Trust God – He will meet your needs.

Your heavenly father knows what you need (Matthew 6:32), and you are precious to him (Isaiah 43:4). He describes His care for us and that your name is engraved in His palm (Isaiah 49:16). Christ modeled this by turning his situation over to his father (Luke 23:43). Jesus entrusted Himself to the Father.
