Read Exodus 16,17,18
Pastor Gary teaches us that two months into the journey, the people run out of food and complain. God provides meat at night and bread in the morning. What is manna?
The manna miracle teaches us about obedience. With privilege comes responsibility. Learn in the simple ways to obey God. We can only be faithful in big ways if we’ve been faithful in little things along the way. Practice obedience to God. When you disobey God, it’s rotten. God wants obedience more than our sacrifice. We can’t perform to impress God. Every day we must decide to obey the Lord.
The manna miracle teaches us about trust. Every day we have to choose to be dependent on God and trust Him for tomorrow. Our daily need for Jesus is essential to our faith. Be in the Word and praying every day. This is not legalistic it is realistic. We need more than casual contact with God, more than our leftover time. God wants daily fellowship.
The manna miracle teaches us about rest. God implemented Sabbath because we all need rest or we will burn out and die. There is nothing wrong with a good work ethic. But, does it consume you? Rest, worship and recharge. Slaves don’t know about rest. Are you a slave? Sabbath is required.
Our manna miracle teaches us about satisfaction… ultimately in Jesus. Jesus is the Bread of Life. Feed on Jesus or you will die. Manna is temporary. Jesus is eternal. Jesus is the only one that can satisfy the deepest longings of your soul. If you don’t know Jesus, are you living to try to find whatever is next to satisfy the deepest longings of your heart? The world offers a lot but delivers little.
It is our responsibility to tell others that it is only Jesus that satisfies.
