Read Exodus 10,11,12
Pastor David asks us, “How much of Pharaoh is in us”?
In a time of crisis, we cry out to the Lord. As soon as the crisis fades away, so does our passion for God.
Plague number nine was a darkness you could feel. God brings complete judgement. This is a story of God’s dominance. God has an active interest in tearing down idols.
Do you have idols in your life? What do you serve? We all can have a tendency to set up false gods in our hearts.
God does not let us negotiate with Him. God’s attitude towards negotiating is absolutely uncompromising. Do you try to make deals with God? He wants your whole life. Jesus requires us to die to self and give Him our entire life. When will you realize that God requires surrender?
God does all of this to teach that His name shall be declared. Some will listen.
We see this is a story of false repentance. Words can be great but what are your actions? Are you a part of the club that says, “I have sinned”? Judas said, “I have sinned” but he did not repent. We are all a part of that club. The difference is to say it and mean it or say it in false repentance. We can say the right words with no change of heart.
False repentance comes from a hardened heart. False repentance comes from only a concern with the consequences of sin, not for the sin itself.
You start feeling sorry for the sin itself when you look at the cross where that sin was judged and Jesus had to die for your sin.
Are you grieved that your sin sent Jesus to the cross?
False repentance hardens the heart even further. False repentance can’t go on forever. Jesus took every plague for us on the cross.
Exodus 10:3 “How long will you refuse to humble yourself to Me”?
