I am 55 years old and I have heard the story of Joseph more times than I can count. Yet today, it’s like the Bible just smacked me upside the head with providential understanding. Wow!!!🤯
Pastor David tells us that Joseph’s tests for his brothers are led by the Holy Spirit to do a work of repentance in their lives. Under God’s providence Joseph made himself known to his brothers. How shocking for them to discover who was standing in front of them. This is prophetic in the sense that it mirrors what will happen to Jews when they see Jesus after the resurrection.
Joseph was led by the Holy Spirit to release his brothers. Joseph did not hold a grudge against them.
This is how God relieves believers from their guilt after their repentance. You can know that you are forgiven. Forgiveness releases us from condemnation. This is God’s providential plan.
Joseph doesn’t diminish what his brothers had done but He understands that God’s purpose in this was greater than the evil of his brothers.
Don’t ignore the overarching hand of God in every circumstance. You can acknowledge sin against you but God wants you to deal with the forgiveness you should grant and hope for.
Joseph understood that all of his sorrows had a purpose. God can guide all things for His perfect resolution. This is where the free will of man and predestination mesh together.
Joseph realized that God ruled his life.
Any sin that has been committed against you, God can work it all for His wonderful, beautiful purpose.
Jesus is the true, LIVING son.
Joseph reminds his brothers how to act when they are not in his presence. He knew they would go back to their selfish ways. Isn’t this just like us? We MUST remain in the Lord’s presence.
The only way the world will know that Jesus is alive is if believers tell them the words of God and show them the blessings in their lives.
When you believe that Jesus is alive it will change your testimony. Your life can be transformed into a new person. Believe in the evidence of the resurrection of Jesus. Act on that belief!!!🤯
