Pastor Gary Hamrick
The Cost Of Compromise

This is a difficult chapter. Rates PG13-R.

Lot is a complicated man. He’s terribly compromised with great indecision and spiritual weakness. Yet, in 2 Peter 2:7 he refers to him as a righteous man that was tormented in his soul by the wickedness around him. Both views are inspired by Holy Spirit.

Perhaps Lit saw himself as a reformer in order to affect change. He then becomes overwhelmed by the depravity of the culture and begins to accept it. He tolerates it. He becomes complacent and never affects change. Is that like any of us today?

There is no evidence of fruit in his life or a deep relationship with God. He is not a witness. Are you immune to the world around you? This is a slow progression to compromise. Not much has changed.

All sin is unacceptable to God. Do not disgrace those that struggle with sin. We all struggle with sin and are in need of Jesus. There is no sin ranking. Jesus died for all sin and all sinners. Jesus wants to set us free. Sin is sin. God changes lives from the inside out and transforms people completely in Christ. We are a new creation.

Compromise costs us 4 things…

  • we lose reason
    -we lose respect
    -we lose resolve
    -we lose reputation

Be resolved to honor God, live for God and witness about God. Don’t look back. Don’t act out what you seen in your culture. Be strong. Speak truth in love.

If you know truth, the truth will set you free.
