Read Job 1,2,3,4,5

Listen to Pastor Skip Heitzig’s, The Bible From 30,000 feet, Job.

Job means hated or persecuted and may be a nickname.

4 parts to this book

-Physical malady

-Spiritual reality

-Mental agony

-Eventual victory

Satan is going about to and fro on the earth. He is not omnipresent.

Job didn’t know about Satan’s conversation with God.

If Job is vulnerable than so must I be.

We have no guarantee of an easy life.

Job worships is his grief. Grief is to be expected.

Grief and worship can commingle.

Pain reveals who we really are.

Sometimes God will calm the storm around you and sometimes God will calm you in the storm.

Jesus says to Peter, “Simon, Satan has been asking about you. He wants to sift you like wheat.”

How would this make you feel?

Walk softly around the broken-hearted.

God is not always apparent but He is always aware.

What is hidden from me is not hidden from God.

God’s word is true whether you’re feeling good or not.

Suffering in the hands of a loving God can bring about great good.
