“Crucified with Christ”
Phillips, Craig and Dean

Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

Lyrics:
When I look back at what I thought was living
I’m amazed at the price I chose to pay
And to think I ignored what really mattered
‘Cause I thought the sacrifice would be too great

But when I finally reached the point of giving in
I found the cross was calling even then
And even though it took dying to survive
I’ve never felt so much alive

For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live
Not I, but Christ that lives within me
His Cross will never ask for more than I can give
For it’s not my strength but His
There’s no greater sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live

As I hear the Savior call for daily dying
I will bow beneath the weight of Calvary
Let my hands surrender to His piercing purpose
That holds me to the cross yet sets me free
I will glory in the power of the cross
The things I thought were gain I count as loss
And with His suffering I identify
And by His resurrection power, I am alive

For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live
Not I, but Christ that lives within me
His Cross will never ask for more than I can give
For it’s not my strength but His
There’s no greater sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live

And I will offer all I have
So that His cross is not in vain
For I found to live is Christ
And to die is truly gain

For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live
Not I, but Christ that lives within me
His Cross will never ask for more than I can give
For it’s not my strength but His
There’s no greater sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live
For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live

I’ll be going on a short little journey with you over the next few weeks. I’ll be starting this journey today with a song about salvation, which will be followed by life as a believer in Christ, which would include trials, growth, worship, etc. and ending with just how great our God truly is, which is seen in the life, death and resurrection power, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Key Parts of Galatians 2:20

The Old Life Dies:
Your old self and sin are put to death on the cross with Jesus.

Christ Lives in You:
Jesus now lives inside you and guides your daily actions.

Living by Faith:
You live your human life by trusting the Son of God who loves you.

The Story Behind:

“Crucified with Christ”

The song “Crucified with Christ”, released by Phillips, Craig & Dean in 1995 was inspired by Randy Phillipps, personal struggle and his study of Galatians 2:20–21. Feeling a heavy personal weight and a need to surrender his own agenda, he realized he had to reach a point of complete devotion to God.

Release: Featured on the trio’s acclaimed 1995 album, the song became a massive radio hit and was named Inspiration Song of the Year by CCM Magazine.
Core Message: Serves as a powerful testimony of personal surrender, salvation, and replacing one’s own will with the life of Christ.
