Good Morning!!
Celebrate today with Recovery!!
Working the 4th Step requires a lot of deep searching and self-reflection. The Celebrate Recovery Participant’s Guide offers questions to help us walk through this process. I encourage you to pick up a copy for yourself to help you search our heart to get you started on your inventory. (You can find them on Amazon)
Celebrate Recovery gives 5 topics with questions to assist you on your own journey:
1. Who hurt me? Who is the object of my resentment or fear?
2. What happened? What specific action did that person take that hurt me?
3. How did you feel? List any emotions that you felt.
4. What was the damage? What did this action make me believe is true about myself, others, or God? What damage did that action do to my basic social, security, and/or sexual instincts?
5. What was/What is my part? As a result of that action, what action did I take? What behaviors did I develop as a way to escape? What part am I responsible for? Who are the people I have hurt? How have I hurt them?
Use these questions to get you started. Some Days it will flow, others it may be a struggle. Take your time, journal and pray. Turn to scripture that focuses on helplessness, shame, jealousy, loneliness, overwhelmed, fear and doubt, as well as encouragement, acceptance, forgiveness, patience and love.
In order to complete these questions, we have to get real with ourselves regarding our relationships with others, our priorities in life, our attitude and integrity, our mind, our body and our family.
Walking with this step together or with a trusted friend will help us stay accountable and true to ourselves. I’ll be working on this step for the next few weeks and invite you to join me. Message me if you’d like to take this step together.
Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16.
Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40
Til next time!! Robin
