Today we will look through Matthew 17 for any names of Jesus.
This chapter records The Transfiguration of Jesus.
Have you ever wondered about this event, The Transfiguration?
The Transfiguration is a pivotal New Testament event where Jesus revealed His Divine glory to Peter, James and John on a mountain, also appearing with Moses and Elijah.
Matthew 17:1-3, “After six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them
up a high mountain by themselves. There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. Just then appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.”
In verse 5 we read ‘a voice from the cloud said, “THIS IS MY SON, WHOM I LOVE; WITH HIM I AM WELL PLEASED. LISTEN TO HIM.”
Here we see God the Father speaking from Heaven to Peter, James and John about HIS SON.
According to commentaries, the Disciples who had only known Jesus in His human body, now had a greater realization of the deity of Christ…thought they could not fully comprehend it….
Jesus underwent a dramatic change in appearance in order that the disciples could behold Him in HIs glory.
Wow!!!
To be able to see that must have been life changing!!
As Christ followers we will see Jesus in His Glory as well.
