Good Morning!!
Today we continue looking at the names of Jesus.
Remember….the more you know HIS names, the more you will know HIM!!!
Matthew 8 will be our next chapter that we will mark/read the names of Jesus.
In verse 20 Jesus calls Himself the ‘son of man’ ~ This is His own identification of Himself.
Verse 25 ~ the Disciples call upon Him…”LORD…save us!”
Verses 28-33 tells us some interesting information….about 2 demon possessed men. THEY even identify Jesus with a name….Son of God.
I encourage you to mark the names of Jesus with purple….even the demons know His name!!
Matthew 9 tells us the story of Jesus healing paralyzed man.
In Verse 6 Jesus calls Himself the Son of Man.
So we have Jesus identified as the Son of God and the Son of Man.
In verse 27 Jesus is called another Son of…..mark that verse too!
Here is what I discovered about The Son of Man, The Son of God and Son of David…
SON OF GOD ~ Jesus is not God’s Son in the sense of a human father and a son. God did not get married and have a son. Jesus is God’s son in the sense the He is God made manifest in
human form. (John 1:1)
SON OF MAN ~ Jesus is referred to as the Son of Man 82 times in the New Testament! Son of
Man is the primary title that Jesus used when referring to Himself!
SON OF DAVID ~ 17 verses in the New Testament describe Jesus as the ‘son of David’!
Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecy of the seed of David. (2 Samuel 7:12-16) Jesus is the
promised Messiah, which means He had to be the lineage of David. Matthew chapter 1 gives
that proof of that fact.
