What is LOVE?
Typically when we want the definition of a word, we go to the dictionary….Websters Dictionary tells us the meaning of LOVE ~
As a noun it is “a strong feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, such as for a parent, child a friend or a pet”.
Also….a Sweetheart, husband, wife.
As a verb it is ‘having a strong attraction or deep affection toward another ~ devotion, passionate affection for another person”.
For the next lesson on GOD, we will explore LOVE because the Bible tell us that GOD IS LOVE.
Love is not merely an attribute of GOD, LOVE is HIS very makeup. GOD is not ‘merely’ loving…at HIS core ~ HE IS LOVE. LOVE is not something GOD ‘does’, but is GODS very essence and nature. LOVE is HIS very fundamental being. It is the SOURCE from which all other attributes and actions flow!!!!
Read 1John 4:7-21
From these verses….write down WHAT LOVE IS……
In verses 8 & 20, it is clear about ‘the one who does NOT love” ~ scary verses!
As you have discovered from these verses, GOD IS LOVE. Have you ever thought about how much GOD LOVES YOU???
